DETAILED ITINERARY

PRE-TOUR – 20 Sep – Arrival – Maun
Crew are based at Audi Camp, Maun. Guests can overnight where preferred at own cost.

DAY 01 – 21 Sep – Maun – Moremi Game Reserve
Depart to Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. Moremi is definitely one of the best game reserves within Botswana, offering the visitor a magnificent variety in landscape and marvelous wildlife all year round. Birdwatchers will be amazed.

Enter at Maqwee Gate. Continue on a game drive to Third Bridge. Afternoon game drive.

Overnight: Camping at Third Bridge (Good communal ablution)

DAY 02 – 22 Sep – Moremi Game Reserve
Morning and afternoon game drives.

DAY 03 – 23 Sep – Moremi – Khwai Community Trust & Wildlife Management Area
Depart via Khwai Gate (North Gate) to the Khwai Community Trust & Wildlife Management Area on the northern side of the Khwai River, which is the border of Moremi Game Reserve. This pristine area in the Okavango Delta is rich in wildlife and teems with bird life and is one of the best areas in Southern Africa to see wild dogs. This is one of the last real wilderness areas in Southern Africa. The campsites are near the Khwai River.

Elephants show up daily at campsites and lion and spotted hyena are regular visitors. Afternoon game drive in Khwai area

Overnight: Camping at Magotho Community Campsite (Communal ablutions; flush toilet & hot shower)

DAY 04 – 24 Sep – Khwai Community Trust & Wildlife Management Area
Game drives in Khwai Area. Relax in camp

DAY 05 – 25 Sep – Khwai Community Trust & Wildlife Management Area
Game drives in Khwai Area. Relax in camp.

DAY 06 – 26 Sep – Khwai – Chobe National Park
Depart to Savuti in Chobe National Park, via the Sand Ridge Road. The Savuti Channel flows sporadically, but is dry lately. Wildlife is spread out all along the channel and the Savuti Marsh. There are only a few waterholes, and they are visited by large concentrations of game in the dry season.

Elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, giraffe & impala roam the area and lion, spotted hyena and leopard are seen often. Cheetah and wild dog are sporadic sightings. Elephants are regular visitors to the campsite.

DAY 07 – 27 Sep – Khwai – Chobe National Park
Morning game drive and afternoon game drives.

DAY 08 – 28 Sep – Chobe National Park
Depart to the Chobe River Front via the Chobe Forest Reserve. Stop at the Community Hand Craft Shop at Kachikau. Very good quality hand-weaved baskets are for sale here.

Continue to Senyati Safari Camp 10 km south of Kazangula. Senyati is situated on the border of the Kasane Forest Reserve. The chalets and bar-deck overlook a flood-lit waterhole where herds of elephant, numbering in total up to hundreds a day, come to drink from mid-afternoon until late at night. Spotted hyena, sable & roan antelope, big herds of buffalo, kudu, giraffe and impala are regular visitors too. Leopard, lion and wild dog are sporadic visitors.

Relax in the afternoon at accommodation or on the bar deck overlooking the floodlit waterhole.

Overnight: Camping at Senyati Safari Camp (Each campsite has private ablution facilities)

DAY 09 – 29 Sep – Senyati Safari Camp / Chobe National Park
Depart early morning to the Riverfront of Chobe National Park. This is elephant country. Chobe National Park is very famous for its abundance of elephant. This Park has the highest concentration of elephant anywhere in Africa, an estimated 70 000!!  Chobe is also famous for its huge herds of buffalo and predators including lion, leopard and spotted hyena. Sable and roan antelope, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck, tsessebe,  impala, red lechwe, the endemic puku, Chobe bushbuck, herds of zebra, warthogs, pods of hippo and crocodiles are some of the species to be seen

The Chobe Riverfront is one of the best birding areas in Southern Africa and various species of raptors, including great sightings of fish-eagles, flocks of vultures, various aquatic species, colourful bee-eaters and rollers can be encountered on a game drive.

Game drive until noon. Depart at 15:00 on a 03-hour afternoon boat trip on the Chobe River. (At own cost ) Good wildlife sightings are common on the boat trips. Return to Senyati.

Overnight: Camping at Senyati Safari Camp     

DAY 10 – 30 Sep – Senyati Safari Camp (Own activities)
Day at leisure. Guests are free to do whatever they like.

Activities at own cost: Activities can be pre-booked at Senyati Reception 

  • VIC FALLS: Depart early morning on a day-tour to Vic Falls in Zimbabwe, with a Botswana Tour Operator or with own vehicle. Due to problems and delays when crossing with own vehicle at border post, the day tour with operator is recommended

    Entrance Fees at own cost (US$50 pp for Internationals / $30 for SADEC Citizens)

  • GAME DRIVE IN CHOBE NATIONAL PARK:
    Guests can re-visit Chobe Riverfront in their own vehicle or book a tour with a local              operator on an open vehicle. Entrance fees at own cost @ P210 pp & P75 per vehicle (approximate R300 pp & R100 per vehicle)
  • BOAT TRIPS:
    Scenic boat trip or tigerfishing trip on the Chobe River. Entrance fees, if entering Chobe Park at own cost @ P210 pp (approximate R400 pp)
    Or just relax at Senyati!

DAY 11 – 01 Oct – Departure
Guests depart on self-drive. Guide and assistant depart to Vic Falls for start of a 14 Day Zimbabwe Guided Self-drive
